Rubbish heeds bear dire frustration

Hatred enveloped in Southern Sudan is a dire frustration. Easy cases which need heeds are wrongly settled to create sorrow.  Who has not talked about it yet it worsens. Cattle rustling, kidnapping of children and wars based on ethnicity, lands, towns and fisheries are many. Young people learn these from the aged. They may say during their time they were not defeated so their property was not taken. A peaceful child is a coward and disgrace in the history of Southern Sudanese. These people are acquainted to this fighting habit and narration to perfection of indigenous livelihood. Most don’t fight rightfully. The recent chaos I heard about some days back has many casualties on both sides of these warring communities. This chaos basically was caused by a town and a fishery which were said to have been given to a single community rendering the other without. They had to fight not to be losers. Blames, wherever I passed go to the lawyer who solved t...

Exuberant Ceremony Showed Way Out Of Domination

There is something special in you others don’t possess

Image
Talk is laid about beauty and handsomeness occasionally. They spend most of their time pondering over make up as source of choice. Some resent persons they think are uglier than them. They judge yet they don’t know how dull or smart they are. You don’t see a special element in you. There also exist the benevolent who resent underrating. Rubbish is the fact some personalities are denied greetings on this ground of physical appearance. At times these resented figures can be loved to madness by some people seen so special. Do you know why? In short it’s because specialty not derived by the ignoramus is easy to be derived by this figure. It makes them stick to those persons ever. To look good, teens and youths chase after beauty. They inject or apply body creams which later may lead to side effects. This may be to alter skin colour given for a purpose. Competition of clothes, shoes, watches, bangles, rings and mobile phones comes in all costly to promote the class in the eyes of othe...

Excerpt: Betrayed for love

As promised he got his first award three months later which made them sat for their second exam. It was a matter of appreciation having improved not having the first position in class. In spite of much detention he could make it to the hospital to meet Elizabeth as promised. In terms of listening, writing and speaking he could do his waste to lead him later to perfection. Totally he was exempted like a pregnant woman from talking to his fellow girits like they were referred. It was a hard nut to chew not forgetting that should you behave funny, you would be off. He helped his father at home and had been with his red friends who could not tell him any bad word lest departed. He was provided like he was their biological son. He felt more of a prince but once he thought it would be necessary to be himself, at times. It was to no sooner reach for he wasn't to be independent in any way then. It would be more of suicide. He thought he would get a trick which would not culti...

Socialization and being unblemished: boons for valentines’ trips

Socialization in travels is a boon. It had been offering me its first hand shamefully to say I have just realized this. Ninth February was the on set of my adventure to Nairobi. It must have been a sweet valentine’s trip. Late in preparations, there was a day. I hadn’t ironed, not got ticket, not an official permission from employers but I had a favour. I had a traveling document to get me moving. I struggled to only catch the wrong bus. Well, I finally missed Dayah Express and got Eldoret Express, a bus to take me to Nairobi. “The bus goes to Nairobi express-not stopping,” said an administrator. It was a white lie the latter. We had reached Kitale at three after midnight. Those who knew climbed down; I warmed up with a chewing gum. The vehicle couldn’t go sooner. “Kong Kong,” was a knock. I threw my eyes onto the glass glaring at that Nubian I had socialized with since leaving Kakuma. If not boorish you won’t risk a boor, I tell you. I read his lips; my ears had not a single through ...

We're alive

Must be a high time Less melancholic Hear it melodious: the birds sing A hearty belly laugh: around the corner Let us flinch: wash faces What’s the going and doing? Dance and melodious voices What’s the going and doing? To make sense We’re alive Must be a high time Thorny trees wither: we see! Beauty of this land’s here: Green, ever green: insects lighting the dark You won’t need a torch: mister or missus! Belly dance: legs write four checking how long your beards! Oil a currency and reeds fining learning Bare feet walk it soft: jumping-running not hurting To make sense We’re alive Must be a high time Rough travels are high Cycle within: twinkle twinkle, tis real Over and beyond the hills and mountains Come snow and heavy rains Vegetation tower: weeds decay Fill granaries and stacks of hay for livestock Ever bright: never derive dark Dark, the pioneer of melancholy off To make sense We’re alive Must be a high time A ceremony of cranes: we take chairs ...

_Education's liberty_

Sandwiched between disparity and abduction My eyes tearful I was a war child The spirit of disparity Died down for success With this joystick: pen I jot patience and kindness Laziness far-off My founder mother_ Rests some day overwhelmed Longevity success brings Makes me an honorary some day I won't forget this toil Paining like a boil Teacher's my parent: I won't forget Discipline's the key I'll use to open doors weekly Seeking guidance This solace frees me from manipulation Discipline: be the temple I dwell in Education's freedom_ Education's liberty_ I'll sing to this tune forever more I'll be an educator Moulding dignitaries out of conflict and sorrow

Riots at the incentives paypoint at Social Services in Kakuma

By Nyak Simon and Sabbath De Yecouba The start of payment for LWF staffs was today. Workers for LWF humanitarian units refused to receive their incentives today, the third of February, 2011 at quarter to nine at social services where they conduct weekly meetings. This group which rioted comprised: Gender and community empowerment, Child protection, Youth and sport development, peace education, case workers and cleaners under LWF community services. This is because the finance officer eagerly wanted to pay them their usual amount (Shs. 3,5OO), ignoring pay increment they promised in last year proposal and counterparts and supervisors above that amount. They were in a meeting with their supervisors and counterpart managers who usually prepare pay rolls. These leaders briefed their fellow workers not to take money if theirs couldn't be increased equaling the rest of refugees working with other units of LWF and other humanitarian organizations. It was then when the finance of...

Boy fought NCCK worker and went to school to find himself screened out

A school boy fought NCCK worker authorised by UNHCR, DRA and NCCK to demolish fences to allow enough passage for vehicles, Boda bodas and people in Kakuma. Mohammed, from Somali on Friday quarrelled and barked at the workers. Seemingly, no one answered him appropriately. "Talk to that person was their word. When I approached that person she referred me to another person," he said. "They ignored." He accused these workers to formerly had destroyed their fence and came back to demolish their house partly. He clashed with one of the workers thus a weighty blow on his lip leaving it hurt. Concerned persons separated them. In the morning he was in the school to hear he was screened out of standard eight and has to repeat class seven. The case is not completely solved by police. "My mother said the case would be taken to police," he said. "The case will be solved today and am here in problem again." The school administration stated the boy is wea...

Woman's head speared in desperate move to secure dowry

Cultures are becoming torturing. Last night, the twenty sixth of January I had  robbed a sleep only to be awoken by a gun shot. My heart bumped thinking it was the normal stuff of Kakuma: looting. Minutes passed and I received a phone call to attest it was an attack in group nine in line with Fashoda Primary School opposite Rajaf Police Station. As I welcomed these gentlemen into the school, they told me that a day after, their colleaque eloped with a lady and when told to return her, they refused. They told me they spent the whole day in the lagga to make it to Nimule Primary School in the evening to hear what would happen. At Eleven O'clock at night, these people (lady's relatives) after warning severally broke into the group breaking the gate. Men who used to be in the group all escaped some through an opening under the fence. With this wrath if not scaring to get dowry, women who were found were beaten. One unlucky woman whom I learned came recently from Sudan got ...

Black messiah

Jangageer was a land far and wide where a child was born. He received a warm welcome with termites oil at dusk. Dark signified the bearer of the shield who would be known to none other than the inhabitants of the land. The child grew up under nobility as their noble King waited for sacrificial instructions from gods. They were reluctant. His dwelling was sacred, the house of the mighty one of Chiek who was Chiek like gods of Jangageer. His parents visited him yet none dined with him. His words were respected the words of the mighty one. Once upon a time in his fifteenth age he sought permission from their noble King. ~ My noble King, he said. Knelt and skin covered his feet. Gods were silent respecting the words of the mighty one who prostrated respectfully. ~I need a walk eastwards, he asked, I see light every night so let me collect it for our good. It was puzzling to the King before he made up his mind to call Oleere and all the elders. When the King ordered guards ran and ...

Widening of roads to facilitate connection of electricity in refugee communities

Exercise to create room for connection of electricity in Kakuma: Department for Refugee Affairs (DRA) known as camp manager's office reinforced resizing of roads in Kakuma. I set my eyes on this last December when Shops and Hotels in Ethiopian community were resized to allow adequate space for vehicles, bicycles, motor bikes and the people. This road was widened through to the former Nuer Community now multicultural. It extended to Somali, Burundi and Rwanda communities behind Ngundeng Primary School, now vacated, to create another road alongside Mogadishu Primary School and deep into Burundi and Rwanda communities. "In our community, only fences were destroyed," said Tito, a Child Development Worker (CDW) at UNHCR field post one, who handles even issues of shelter and protection because he said they work hand in hand with UNHCR and NCCK. Tito stressed it is to let police and GSU access the community and Boda boda taxis, bicycles and motor bikes. In Equatoria-Sudanese...

"Endo-parasites"

How huge are you? To block all the entrances Leaving no space for the less privileged To squeeze themselves in And get fresher air Your steps make eyes full with dust Engaging tear glands to release excessive tears And eyes reddened They wander like strangers When qualified Can't you train your children? You may need to muster wealth But old age at the door You bear snow in your head Teeth as good as rusted nail Chewing tobacco every minute Others of your type looking for things tender Coffee every four hours A token for being born before them You don't face backward And building of the nation in progress Who is eager to make it real? If you weren't brought up You won't have been who you are Can't you bring them up? And what if you run out of age? Don't you need equality? Right to equal treatment you are contrary to Keeping your body swelled Thank God, I am not your employer, If I were, I would have laid a bait or set a trap...

"Wise choice"

It's to let the lion go Disunity, the solid chance A miss and a cry A miss and we go Beyond the scorning hills Choice is yours Choice is in your hands Choice is mine I have a wise choice I suppose you too Cast votes of separation It's time to shout it out aloud My proposal without yours is useless Crazy choice you make affects me Crazy choice I make spoils you Not there anymore That den has a lion It roars and you off Grief will be mine I have foreseen Don't let me cry blood

"Reserves of sulphur preached"

Cries all day long, suffering where they belong Running up and down Like horses in a race, Because of disgrace And tremble like a chameleon On a frail twig, Of a tree called fig Never do they expect mercy And fantasy From the trouble makers, Who don't behave like caretakers Since they laugh At those groaning in pain They celebrate, Their waste ordeal, Thinking that it's a good deal As they eat meat of infants Which is against the creator, Who lives even in the crater Suffering is what they deserve, Never will they be served, If I am to cue Life to the queue Of everlasting fire
